Easy–To–Spot Sources Of Folic Acid

To make it easier for potential moms to
identify good food sources of this B vitamin,
the March of Dimes recently created the Folic
Acid for a Healthy Pregnancy seal.
Packaged
groceries bearing the purple and white label,
such as breads, flour, and breakfast cereals,
must contain 10 percent of the recommended
daily intake per serving. (You can get a similar amount
through fresh foods like spinach, avocados, beans, and
peanuts.) Folic acid may also help prevent heart disease,
stroke, some cancers, and anemia.
