I know from experience that an a.m. workout sets the tone for my whole day. But now that fall is officially here, and it's getting colder and staying darker longer, I'm finding it harder to get out of bed in the morning. And while I always promise myself that I'll exercise later, I never seem to get around to it. So last week, I joined a new gym that's within walking distance of my new apartment, and have already gone four times. Proximity is key! This morning, I felt extremely groggy when I woke up, but I allowed myself to linger in bed for only five minutes after the alarm went off. The short, brisk walk to the gym invigorated me—so much that I was able to do a full hour of cardio. It's reminded me that while I never wake up feeling energetic, that all changes after my morning workout. So it's important that I stick to that routine.
