Staying Near-Sighted

August 18, 2009

When I began writing this diary, the thought of losing 80 pounds felt impossible. So to make such a huge goal seem more manageable, I broke it down into smaller steps, like dropping five pounds by my next weigh-in. But now that I'm getting closer and closer to my dream weight, I've noticed that I'm starting to focus on the bigger picture again—and I'm getting totally overwhelmed as a result. While 30 pounds is just a fraction of what I needed to lose back in January, it's still a lot. So I'm going to make a conscious effort to get that number out of my head. If I aim for shedding a pound a week, I know I can keep being successful on this journey—no matter how far I still have to go.
