Graces the cover of Vogue
Upton graces the June 2013 cover of Vogue photographed by Mario Testino. She’s then snapped by Annie Leibovitz for the 100th Anniversary issue of Vanity Fair and is named “Model of the Year” at the 10th annual Style Awards at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Kate Upton was born on June 10, 1992 in St. Joseph, MI, and raised in Melbourne, FL. At an early age, she showed an interest in riding horses and competed at a national level, winning five world championships, but her true dream was to become a model. In 2008, Upton attended a casting call for Elite Model Management in Miami, and was lucky enough to be brought on as a client that same day.

In 2010, the blonde bombshell signed with IMG Models and suddenly, her career was on fire. With campaigns for Dooney & Bourke and Guess under her belt, Upton was featured in the Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 2011, for which she was named “Rookie of the Year.” In a major modeling coup, Upton lands the highly coveted cover the following two years (2012 and 2013), a feat accomplished in the past only by one other model, Tyra Banks.

The momentum continued with covers for Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Cosmopolitan, French Elle, GQ, and Esquire. Throughout her career thus far, Upton has worked with legendary photographers including Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber, and Ellen von Unwerth, and has also starred in commercials for Mercedes-Benz, Carl’s Junior, and Sobe. Recently, Upton has started to dabble with acting, appearing in big budget projects like Tower Heist, The Three Stooges, and The Other Woman.

Known for her vivacious personality and killer physique, the blonde bombshell went through an intense workout regime three months prior to her bikini-clad SI cover photoshoot. Upton worked with trainer Justin Gelband five times a week doing a mix of circuit training workouts that changed daily, followed by Pilates, yoga, or kickboxing. But one thing she didn’t want to do? Lose those curves! “Since the first day I met her, she wanted to come in and change the industry by saying curves are sexy,” says Gelband. “She’s such a great role model for all the young girls out there.” Kristen Aldridge
