Television personality Maria Menounos was born in Medford, MA, to Greek immigrant parents on June 8, 1978. At age 17, she began to compete in beauty pageants, winning the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA in 1996. Later, Menounos attended Boston’s Emerson College. During her senior year, she landed her first reporting gig for Channel One News and soon realized her passion for journalism.

In 2002, the brunette bombshell got her big break when she was hired by Entertainment Tonight to report on music, movies, and fashion. This opened the door to an illustrious career in broadcasting, including a co-hosting position for ET on MTV and VH1. Acting roles soon followed when Menounos booked an appearance on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. She went on to star in recurring roles on several hit shows like The CW’s One Tree Hill and Without a Trace on CBS. In 2005, she made her big-screen debut in the superhero action flick, Fantastic Four. In 2006, Menounos became a special correspondent for Access Hollywood until 2011, where she left to join forces with Extra and compete on the ABC reality series, Dancing with the Stars. In addition, she created the online broadcast network AfterBuzz TV with her long-time boyfriend and business partner, Kevin Undergaro, has a reality show in production, and is the author of two best-selling books: The Everygirl’s Guide to Life and The Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness.

And speaking of fitness, the tenacious TV host swears by spinning, krav maga, basketball, her love of WWE, and a healthy diet to maintain her seriously svelte figure. After all, the sexy star knows a thing or two about weight loss; she lost the 40 pounds she had gained during college and went from a size 14 to a size 4 by paying close attention to her portion sizes. “It’s a balance. I definitely don’t deprive myself,” she says. “I eat whatever I want, but in smaller portions. If I indulge, I’ll balance things out by switching to salad and fruit for the next meal.” Kristen Aldridge
