Almost two years after her last single, the queen of power anthems is back with one of her best songs yet. This Thursday, Katy Perry surprised millions of fans and with the release of Rise on Apple Music, which has since been titled the 'Olympics Anthem' by NBC. And with a beat like this one, we're not surprised.
"This is a song that's been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface," the Grammy Nominee said in a statement. "I can't think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honored that NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games."
Less than 24 hours after its release, the passionate tune already has its own music video, starring many familiar faces. Simone Biles, Michael Phelps, Gabby Douglas, Serena Williams and Ashton Eaton are just a few big names that made an appearance in the montage of footage. The video perfectly embodies the best and worst moments in the life of a professional athlete.
