She appeared at the Stand Up to Cancer telecast to say a few words to everyone battling this treacherous disease.
Shannen Doherty made headlines in February 2015 when she revealed a breast cancer diagnosis. Later that year, she underwent a single mastectomy, but it didn't prevent cancer from spreading to her lymph nodes. Since then, the 45-year-old has been doing rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, while being very vocal on social media about the difficulties she's faced throughout her illness.
A few months ago, she shared a powerful series of Instagram photos, documenting the moment she had to shave her head. Now, just days after chemo, she's making red carpet appearances for a great cause.
The Beverly Hills 90210 alum, recently attended the Stand Up to Cancer telecast with her husband, photographer, and oncologist (AKA her squad) to help raise money and awareness for cancer.
"Sorry Taylor," she joked, before sharing an update about her cancer battle with Entertainment Tonight. "I stand here to support every single person who has cancer, and I stand here to also support the husbands and the family that has to go through it," she said. "Because it's not just the people who have cancer. It's the families too that go through it that it's very hard on."
Later that night she shared the following picture to her Instagram saying how blessed she felt "to be a part of the cancer family...and to have witnessed such love."
This night meant so much to so many people including myself. I'm forever humbled by the stories I heard tonight and the people I met. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers and crew that made this event happen. Thank you to everybody at @su2c who are so dedicated in trying to find a cure and give people with cancer better alternatives. I feel blessed to be a part of the cancer family tonight and to of witnessed such love. #su2c
Her long time friend, Sarah Michelle Gellar, couldn't help but sing her praises after the event. In a heart-warming Instagram post, she wrote: "She had chemo this week, but was still front and center raising awareness....Not only is she standing up to cancer, she is giving it a run for its money." And we couldn't agree more.
