While talking to my life coach, Lauren Zander, yesterday, I couldn’t hide how bummed I was. Sure, I had lost two pounds last week, but I’d also made a lot of mistakes: I’d eaten a few too many fries, skipped a workout, and hadn’t made a single entry in my food journal. I know I could have lost more weight if I’d been a little more dedicated. In response, Lauren said to focus on all of the things I had accomplished instead of dwelling on what I did wrong. I should be proud of the five times I’d made it to the gym, the three lunches where I resisted the cheeseburger, and the fact that the scale still moved in the right direction. Lauren reminded me that no one can be perfect all of the time—I just had to celebrate the times I came pretty close.
