As the host of The Biggest Loser—and no stranger to the struggles of weight loss herself— Alison Sweeney has picked up plenty of healthy living tips. Having growing up in front of the camera on the soap Days of Our Lives, she felt pressure to be thin and turned to crash dieting. After years of weight issues, she finally changed her lifestyle, slimmed down, and made peace with her body. She shares her stay-slim strategies with Shape.com.

1. If the calories seem too good to be true, check the number of servings
The Biggest Loser has provided me with so much information that I had no idea about: Calories counts, serving sizes, food industry tricks. There was one episode where we had a tiny personal pizza and the calories per serving wasn't bad, but then you find out there are eight servings in one pizza. It's unbelievable!

2. Mix up your workouts
My favorite cardio right now is indoor cycling classes, and I also love to hike and run and walk my dog outside. I suffer from allergies and take Zyrtec to help me manage them, so I can take advantage of being outdoors. I also work out with a trainer and do resistance training. I think it's really good to try all sorts of different stuff.

3. Don't put yourself last
Lots of women put themselves last. They make sure that their kids get to 9 million different classes, but they don't spend the time that it takes to figure out how they can get a workout in. As a working mom, I definitely know how busy life can be, but I think it comes down to making exercise a priority. It's really important that you make that time.

How? Ask for help. Get a friend. Team up so you baby-sit her kids and she baby-sits your kids, so you can trade off going to the gym.

Or, do workouts at home after you put the kids to bed, so you don't need a babysitter. In the confines of your own house, you can totally kick your own butt and there's lots of different ways to do it. You can't use that as an excuse. It sets a good example for your kids and allows you to be more active when you're with them.

4. Set yourself up for success
Being healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet. Fad diets or cutting out certain foods forever inevitably sets you up to fail. Instead, think about being healthy for the rest of your life. Don't put yourself in a situation where the second you're tempted by something you consider it a failure and give up on the whole thing. When someone makes fresh cookies, have one, and don't feel guilty about it.
