I'm a girl who likes shortcuts. I'm always looking for ways to make my workouts quicker or easier while still seeing results. So when I recently heard that you can get your heart rate up with just a few minutes of jumping rope, I knew I had to try it. It turns out that there’s a reason why it's such an effective form of exercise—it's really hard! After just five minutes I was out of breath and needed a break. But the good news is that even though I hadn't done it since I was young, it only took a few hops to get the hang of it again. While jumping rope will never replace my long runs, I'm definitely going to do it as a fun warm-up before lifting weights or as a quick cardio burst when I need an energy pick-me-up.
