To make it easier to stick to my workout schedule, my trainer at Equinox, Lauren Kern, suggested that I sign up for a 10K. The idea is that if I’m going to successfully cross the finish line, I need to do each training run as planned. If I skip a day and don’t do the 40-minute route I was supposed to, next week’s 50-minute run is guaranteed to feel even harder. Now when I hit the track, I’m not just exercising my body—my new commitment skills are getting a workout also.
