Powerful lessons

I've recently been reading books like The Likeability Factor by Tim Sanders about how to boost your self-esteem, and there’s one lesson that keeps popping up: You always have control over your decisions and reactions. I'm not actually powerless to resist dessert; I can decide whether or not I’m going to eat it. Or if I have a not-so-successful workout or slip up on my diet, I can allow myself to be in a bad mood about it or focus on doing better the next time. Recognizing that you actually do determine the way you act and feel in any situation will help you feel more confident, which can lead to making even better choices in the future.
