I w/o on my elliptical for 40 minutes (setting incline only at 1-3 levels) and only burn 200 calories, yet that's at 157 bpm on my heart rate (I don't count my warm-up time). I think several things need to be taken into consideration (age, heart rate, rate of movement, etc.) before Shape can post such a simplistic list. Are you burning 500 cal on your eliptical trainer in only 40 mins?

yea this list may be true for some people but definately not me! i may burn 500 calories in 50 minutes if i work out vigorously but no way would i burn 500 in 40 minutes! your weight is also a big consideration for this.
