Additionally, writing as Alexa Young, she penned the four-book YA fiction series Frenemies, which was turned into a Disney Channel TV-movie starring the network’s Bella Thorne and Zendaya.After earning a bachelor’s degree in Literature/Writing from the University of California, San Diego, she joined Capitol Records where she worked in a variety of departments, from publicity to marketing to the office of the executive vice president. She then held positions at the music industry trade magazine Hits working as an executive assistant then an associate editor. Transitioning to consumer publications, she served as senior associate editor for the teen magazine Jump and senior editor for Shape.She then coauthored two nonfiction books: Goal Digger Fitness and The Happy Hook-up. Making a return to magazine editing, she served as deputy editor for Natural Health, and worked on multiple titles for B2B beauty trade publisher Creative Age. She has also continued to write books for young readers including Disney novels based on the hit TV series "Girl Meets World" and "Andi Mack."
