One of the things I like best about being the Weight Loss Diary writer is that I'm challenged to try new activities that used to intimidate me. I've gotten so used to just saying yes that I don't even hesitate when someone suggests an athletic adventure. That's how I found myself lacing up my ice skates at an indoor rink with my friend Gaby and her 8-year-old daughter. I've rollerbladed before, so I thought the transition wouldn't be too hard. I couldn't have been more wrong! I spent most of the two hours on my bottom while groups of third-graders whizzed past me. But I still had a blast. And even though I'll never be doing double axels at the Olympics, having the confidence to go outside my comfort zone makes me feel like a winner.
