It's interesting how people react when you lose weight: the other day, someone asked me if I was "eating enough". And then that same person stopped by my office later in the afternoon with a giant bag of candy to see if I wanted some. But where was this person when I was sticking my hand in the office "candy jar" way too often? Did I ever hear comments like, Valerie, you are eating WAY too much...when I was still packing on my pregnancy weight. Noooo. It seems like as soon as you do drop some weight, people start eyeing you/reacting to you a little differently, almost with jealousy—even me as Editor in Chief of Shape (who is expected to be in shape 24/7, 365 days a year!). And for the record, I've lost 23 pounds in a year and a half (not drastic in the least bit!)—and am within 5 pounds of my goal weight now (the weight I was before I got pregnant with my first child). I'm pretty proud of where I've come—particularly because I turn the big 4-0 this week.
One daily change: Be confident in where YOU are going; as long as you know what you're doing is right (and healthy, most important), stay focused...and tune out what others around you might be saying.
