The Biggest Shock of the Dancing with the Stars Season

What??? Maria Menounos was eliminated last night in the Dancing with the Stars Season 14 semifinals. The closing credits hadn’t even rolled before I picked up the phone to discuss: what happened? After landing herself at the top of the leader board for the second time this season, with 59 points, Menounos and partner Derek Hough found themselves in jeopardy alongside back-of-packers Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd

It seemed like a no brainer who would go home last night, although I love Driver’s powerful performances, he just isn’t dancing at the level of the other stars at this point in the competition. More than anything, I believe the viewers took it for granted that Menounos and Hough were safe and just didn’t pick up the phone and vote. Personally, I went into the evening worried that Katherine Jenkins would be eliminated due to a smaller fan-base and a back-spasm induced misstep in the final moments of Monday night’s performance. But Jenkins and Mark Ballas were the first to be pronounced safe during last night’s DWTS reveal. Thank goodness for those sympathy votes! Jenkins definitely deserves to go to the finals.

Now that Menounos is out of the competition, I’m expecting William Levy and Cheryl Burke to be this year’s Dancing with the Stars champions.  If I had my way, Driver would be next to be eliminated from the show, followed by Levy, leaving Jenkins, the last female standing, as this year’s champ. But, what I expect the final outcome to be is Driver, Jenkins, Levy.

Tell us in the comments below what you think. Who would you like to see win season 14 Dancing with the Stars? And who do you expect to see win? Luckily, I have a strong feeling we’ll see Menounos join the all-star cast for season 15 DWTS. So excited for next season!! Until then our tribute to the super-fit Menounos:
