The actress, singer, and Dancing with the Stars judge shares how she gets her morning going—from her workout routine to her healthy breakfast tips
You probably know Julianne Hough from her five season tenure and new role as a judge on Dancing with the Stars. However, between balancing her love of dancing (she's been a ballroom competitor since she was nine) with a busy singing and acting career, this triple threat has little time to spare.
In the December issue of Shape, the self-professed morning person shares her routine for powering up in the a.m. from cuddling with her two Cavalier King Charles spaniels, to cooking her favorite egg-white omelet, to working out with her trainer Astrid McGuire, or attending a class at Tracy Anderson.
"I like to shock my body by doing different things. When I was on tour, even though I was dancing two hours a night, I felt I needed more, so I started doing dance moves with ankle or wrist weights on," she tells Shape of her workout philosophy.
She applies the same persistence to her acting career as well: "If I'm reading for a part, I'll transform myself into the character. I love the whole process and always tell my agents: 'Put me in the room—I'll audition for anything.' Thats my motto."
