Q and A with Wipeout Host Jill Wagner

If you're a fan of ABC's hit series Wipeout, you'll be excited to hear that Jill Wagner is returning to the show as host for its sixth season this May (she took season 5 off to explore an acting career). We sat down with the actress, model, and TV personality to talk fitness, food, and more.

SHAPE: What are some of the healthy foods you eat every day?
Jill Wagner (JW): I eat a salad every single day. I also have been doing the juice "thing" after every workout, and I try to drink a half-gallon of water a day.

SHAPE: What are your go-to snacks?
JW: Greek yogurt with berries. It's high in protein and full of antioxidants for muscle recovery. I also am into freeze-dried stawberries. I put them on yogurt and cereal and also eat them right out of the bag.

SHAPE: If today was your last day on earth, what would your last meal be?
JW: My grandmother's salmon cakes and cabbage.

SHAPE: What's your typical workout routine look like?
JW: At the gym, I do full-body circuits with low weights and high repetitions, as well as four or five cardio intervals thrown into the mix. I put a lot of emphasis on core strength and flexibility training. I also do a lot of running in my free time. Anytime I can move my cardio outside in the sunshine, I do.

SHAPE: Is there a workout or exercise you hate but know is so beneficial that you push yourself to do it anyway?
JW: Balance exercises! But I know that they are great for my abs and butt.

SHAPE: If we looked on your iPod, what would we find on your workout playlist?
JW: Classic, old-school Madonna.

SHAPE: If you had to sum up your healthy living philosophy in one sentence, what would it be?
JW: You may hate it now, but you are going to love the way you look and feel later!

SHAPE: How do you balance your busy life and still make time for yourself, your friends, and your family?
JW: I believe you should find at least two hours of every day to spend doing the things that make you happy and relieve stress. I try to wake up a little early so I have an hour to work out and try to allow at least an hour a day to hang with friends. I love to invite buddies over to grill out or have poker night. That being said, some days it just isn't possible and it becomes more stressful to try to fit it all in. I always do a mental audit at the end of the week to make sure I'm balancing time between my career and my personal life.

SHAPE: What are your must-have beauty products?
JW: Palmer's cocoa butter, the original ChapStick, Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara, Raya Body Butter, Raya Skin Recovery Mask, and The Masters brush cleaner (it's actually for painters, but it's amazing on makeup brushes).

SHAPE: What’s next for you?
JW: The season premiere of Wipeout starts May 9 on ABC, and I'm heading overseas soon for a goodwill tour to visit our soldiers in Afghanistan.
