Don't Toss the Sauce: 3 Creative Cocktails Using Leftover Cranberry Sauce


Whether it's rustic and homemade or straight from the can (still holding its can shape of course), you have to have cranberry sauce on the table at Thanksgiving. But then it seems to just sit in the fridge and never gets finished.

This year, use those leftovers as the sweetener in one of these creative cocktails. Whether you have guests stopping by for Thanksgiving seconds or just need to decompress after a houseful of family, these drinks will help you get the most mileage out of your Turkey Day extras in a tasty way.

And for the rest of yesterday's meal, try these 10 new and healthy ways to use Thanksgiving leftovers.

Hunters on Holiday
1 1/2 parts Jägermeister
1/2 part Don Q Anejo Rum
2 barspoons leftover cranberry sauce 
1/2 part fresh lemon juice
Lemon peel, for garnish
Grated cinnamon, for garnish

In a shaker combine first four ingredients with ice and shake well. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice and garnish with lemon peel and cinnamon.

Feasts After the Gold Rush

1 1/2 parts Bärenjäger Honey & Bourbon
2 parts apple cider
1/2 part lemon juice
1 barspoon leftover cranberry sauce
Pinch of baking spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, or whatever you have on hand

In a shaker combine all ingredients with ice. Shake well and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice.

Holiday Smash
1 barspoon leftover cranberry sauce
3 slices fresh ginger
1/2 part simple syrup
2 parts Bärenjager Honey Liqueur
Cinnamon stick, for garnish

In a shaker combine first three ingredients and muddle gently. Add Bärenjager and ice and shake well. Pour into a rocks glass and garnish with cinnamon stick.
