Hello, my name is Jay Cardiello and I am honored to be a part of the SHAPE family. For the past 16 years, I have worked as a fitness coach and nutritionist (I am certified in strength and conditioning, personal training and sports nutrition).

My career started in sports — I trained many professional teams and athletes before packing my bags and moving in with rapper 50 Cent. Yes, I hit the road with Fiddy! From 2006 to 2010, I worked as his "live-in" personal trainer, nutritionist and cook (not chef, as I would insult many of my friends who are professionals in that particular industry) traveling the globe in order to help him build one of the best bodies in Hollywood. This around the clock partnership was intense, but it provided me with complete insight into the world behind the velvet ropes. So, that, combined with my education and training gave me the necessary foundation to carve my niche and mold my approach. 

I am based in New York and work as a fitness and wellness expert and celebrity personal trainer. My goal is to teach, encourage, motivate and support.

And, today, I excitedly begin my role as a blogger on Throughout this journey, as my fingers pound away on my over-worked MacBook, I will be sharing celebrity workouts, fit tips, what really matters nutritionally, what’s a waste of time and money and what you can do to make your body the best it can be. It's all about you from here on out! My mantra is "change your life, without changing your lifestyle". You can reach your fitness and wellness goal without sacrificing who you are and what you enjoy!

What if I told you that you could experience 20 pound-plus weight loss by only working out 20 minutes a day, four days a week for 40 days (that's only 8 hours of training) without the use of equipment and diet scams? Sound too good to be true? Well, I have spent most of my days in movie trailers and hotel rooms training clients without ever leaving a 4x4 space and we hardly use equipment. I’ll illustrate how we do it.

Did you know that by simply drinking ice water first thing in the morning, you could speed up your metabolism? It’s true. How about this one—cloudy contact lenses are a good indicator of a high fat diet. I’ll always be sharing helpful tips, the best exercise moves, must-read articles and more. I seek to deliver what you—as savvy modern-day multi-taskers who understand that wellness is paramount—really need to hear, see, do and remember. Don’t be surprised if you experience quite a few “I didn’t know that!” moments.
