Flowers are good for MORE than your wedding day!

Today I was lucky enough to meet with a celebrity florist, the wonderful Michael Gaffney—and I say wonderful because he truly is such a sweet guy! Ever since Shape Bride launched, we’ve been getting tons of calls and emails about the newest trends in the wedding market. I'm learning so many ways that I can help brides have a fun, fit, and happy experience as they’re planning their wedding! (Perfect timing for me too, right?!) Michael has been designing floral arrangements for over 20 years (after ditching a career in Wall Street) and he was asked to do the flowers you see in Natalie Portman, Jennifer Anniston and Philip Seymour Hoffman films. Besides staying busy doing cool events and movies, he also teaches this craft at his own floral design schools located in NY, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis (so maybe you know him!).

Even though floral arrangements is not necessarily something Shape might feature, what he did teach me can help any woman looking for an energy boost in their day-to-day lifetsyle! He taught me how I can make my own floral arrangements—and if you’re planning a wedding on a budget, this can come in handy for a stressed-out bride-to-be! I think flowers can make us happier in fact. They do make us feel better when we’re having a bad day and they’re so pretty to look at, so I’d say that’s a health benefit, wouldn’t you? (Studies say floral scents counteract stress and anxiety—I can tell you firsthand this is true. The bouquets I made with Michael today are sitting on my desk and make me smile every time I look at them!). Take a peak at Michael’s website,, and next time you need a little pick-me-up, pick up something pretty for your office desk! Look at mine below….

Thanks Michael! :)
