Triathlon Training BEGINS!

So since I’m still training for the half-marathon, why not throw in triathlon training too, right? Call me crazy, but, I am! My Team in Training triathlon season is in full gear right now. Remember last year when I had my swims every Monday night, runs in Central Park on Tuesdays, and bike and runs on Saturday mornings? I’m doing it all again. But this time, I’m a mentor so I have my own small team to look after.

I can’t praise this organization enough, because if you’re looking to give back or just want to be a part of something that’s such an inspiration, you should check out Team in Training in your community. At our kick-off event last week, a TNT participant and survivor of Hodgkins Disease, spoke to the crowd of about 300 soon-to-be triathletes, and encouraged them to keep doing what they’re doing because if it wasn’t for TNT and our donations, he believes he wouldn’t be alive today. I swear I got the chills as he was talking because it really makes you see the bigger picture—I’m not just doing a triathlon to accomplish a personal goal (that is one of the reasons however), what I’m doing can actually help someone live a little bit longer, or have a better future. Part of the reason why I decided to be a mentor (on top of all the other crazy things going on in my life right now!) is because I wanted to spread my experience to anybody else who cares. So if you’re looking to get in shape and want that “team” feeling to help you along the way, check out Team in Training—I’ve made friends for a lifetime with this small community of people. Triathlons are becoming so popular too—wonder why? They're awesome for getting your body toned from head to toe and the experience makes you feel like you can do anything (because you can).

Additionally, this is the tenth anniversary of the Nautica Triathlon in NYC so I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting season! Check out the video from Fox 5 below—Mike Woods (the Fox weather man) is training with us this year too! And when you take a peak, look a little closer after the 35-second mark—you’ll see me on stage clapping my hands! : )

Here I am on race day...I can't wait to do it all again!
