Enjoy a few cocktails and fine dining and still lose weight with these simple strategies
A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I vacationed in Maui. I wanted to relax and enjoy myself—without putting on pounds.
To be proactive, I packed snacks for the days we were traveling, including peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat, peanuts, and bananas. In Maui, we had a full kitchen, so we bought eggs, toast, and fruit and started every day with a healthy breakfast.
When dining out, I ordered fresh seafood, such as grilled fish tacos with cabbage or crab cakes and shrimp, along with fresh salads. We also made it a priority to take daily walks along the beach.
As for drinking, I did enjoy the island’s classic mai tai made with rum and fruit juices. But I only had one each time we were out drinking and switched to vodka with club sodas to limit calories from the sugary juices.
End result? No weight gain! It also made transitioning back to my rigorous workout routine and healthy eating at home a breeze. Did I mention the gorgeous Maui sunsets? To die for!
