Eating This Helps Me Eat Less


Before starting my weight loss journey, I used to go for hours on end without eating. After all, having a busy and unpredictable work schedule sometimes causes me to forget to eat until I’m starving! But my new healthy lifestyle requires frequent snacking between meals and my nutritionist, Keri Gans, is helping me make smart choices.

The old me used to reach for chips or crackers, but Keri explained that these types of snacks don’t offer many nutritional benefits. Instead, she encouraged me to opt for something that is balanced, which means it should contain protein and carbohydrates. Keri offered up some excellent (and tasty!) options, such as apple slices with peanut butter, low fat cottage cheese topped with berries, lowfat Greek yogurt and fruit, and baby carrots dipped in hummus. 

I make sure to stock up on these nutritious items when I’m at the grocery store, and pack snack-sized portions for myself ahead of time so I can I grab them and go on my way to work in the morning. 

I’ve been munching on my new treats during the day and have noticed that they really do keep me satisfied—and energized. I now look forward to my daily snacks just as much as my meals. Here’s to healthy snacking!
