An inspiring thought

“Try seeing exercise as freedom, as opposed to obligation.”

I came across the above quote by Terry Trespicio as I was reading a magazine and it really spoke to me. I’ve had a lot going on in my life since this experience with SHAPE began, and the biggest change of all has been fitting in regular exercise. It isn’t easy—there are days that the last thing I want to do is work out. But then I hear my Grandma’s voice telling me to “take my exercise.” She always used to say that because she felt that working out was an essential part of your day—just like taking a vitamin. And the more I read and learn about the health benefits of exercise, I realize how right she was. Whenever I feel like skipping a session, I’m going to think about her and Terry’s quote. Exercise is giving me the freedom to live the life I want to live: one that’s healthy and full of fun. I’ve also learned the value of short, efficient workouts. When I think can’t fit anything else in I know I can find time for one of these 3 5-minute routines.
