Losing Weight While Working the Late Shift

During the recent political conventions, my work hours changed, so my regular schedule shifted to later in the day: I had to report to work at 1 p.m. and I finished around 9 p.m. Initially, I was dreading the shift in hours since I would be getting home so late, but once I got into the routine, I found I actually preferred the change!

By having my mornings free, I was able to take 9 a.m. fitness classes at the gym, go grocery shopping, clean, and cook, all before work. And instead of taking lunch to work and eating dinner at home, I ate my lunch before I left the house and brought dinner with me to eat at 7 at the office.

I did get home late, but since I didn’t have to cook dinner or do much of anything, I was able to relax on the couch and watch TV for an hour or so before I went to bed. I ended up working out six days a week and eating great with no slip-ups. I actually lost more weight than usual! I’m back to my regular schedule now, so it didn’t last forever, but it was nice to change things up a bit.

How do you cope with a changing schedule?
