I was running late this morning, so I stopped at the grocery store on my way to work to grab lunch. I headed to the produce section and saw a bunch of pre-made salads with the calorie counts listed on the containers. I was really happy they printed the nutritional information right on the lid—it can be hard to know how healthy something is just by looking at it. After some deliberation, I chose the Smokehouse BBQ-style ranch salad, which had grilled chicken, grilled corn, tortilla strips, shredded cheese, and a delicious light ranch dressing. And at only at 260 calories, it was a smart choice. I also bought a bottle of Naked Pomegranate Acai juice (although since the entire thing is 320 calories, I’m only going to drink half and save the rest for tomorrow’s breakfast). It goes to show that you can make a good choice at the grocery store when you take a few moments to think about what you’re about to eat.
