When your mind says exercise and your body says hibernate!

This past week, it’s been REALLY hard to motivate myself to get up in the cold, dark mornings and exercise. I’m typically cozy under my covers when my alarm rings. At 6 a.m., it’s completely dark outside and it’s been really chilly. This morning, I literally lay awake in bed for at least 15 minutes convincing myself that exercise is good, I need to exercise, it’s important for my health…all the stuff we say inside the magazine. Finally I dragged myself out of bed and onto the elliptical. And after a good 30 minutes (with my tunes cranked up), I felt more energized and happier.

One daily change: We all know we’ll feel better after exercising. But it’s still not easy to get our butts moving in the morning. Give yourself enough time to lie in bed for at least 15 minutes before you have to get up and exercise, and then no more excuses! You’ll definitely feel better after having exercised than you would if you stayed in bed!
