I used to scoff at the concept of a runner's high, but somewhere along the way, I became one of those people who feel grumpy until they get their daily workout in. And the same goes for my diet: I feel so much better when I have regular, nutritious meals (as opposed to my old habit of forgetting to eat all day, then devouring an entire pizza for dinner). But despite this, I occasionally still fall into the classic emotional eating trap--I use a fight with a friend or a tough day at work as an excuse to skip my workout or hit the cookie aisle. But from now on, I'm going to remember that by fitting in a quick jog or making healthy food choices at the grocery store, I can change my mood--and body--for the better.
