Fit Celebrities with Tattoos
Actress Vanessa Hudgens has revealed that her butterfly tattoo is a sign that she's moving on and spreading her wings. She told David Letterman on his Late Night show, "'It was very last minute, but I've actually wanted it for years. A butterfly landed on my mom's stomach a week before I was born and that's how I got my name, because Vanessa means butterfly—it's a Latin derivative." She also said it made her feel like a "badass."
Kat Von D
Known for her tats and reality show LA Ink (which was just canceled), tattoo artist Kat Von D is no stranger to ink. But believe it or not, she's not one to choose art for its meanings. "I like to get stuff that I like to look at. Most of my tattoos are just pretty girls and pretty flowers," she told Prick Magazine. She does pay tribute to her sister with a portrait on her left arm though.
Celebrity fitness guru Jillian Michaels has been reported to have two tattoos. One is an angel on her left foot with its wings stretched on both sides of her ankle. The other is a Japanese character on her right shoulder blade, which is supposedly a kanji symbol for "tomo," which means friend.
Actress Angelina Jolie has tattoos on her lower back, forearm, shoulder blade, neck, shoulder, wrist, and hip. Does she have any real estate left on that hot body? Too many to name, our favorite is the one on her left shoulder blade, a magical Pali incantation written in Khmer, the native language of Cambodia. She got it to protect her and son Maddox from bad luck and accidents.
No stranger to tattoos, Lady Gaga is also covered with a handful. Currently, you can find ink on the singer's wrist, shoulder, back, inner arm, and thigh. Recently, she stamped herself with a unicorn and the words "born this way" wrapped around the unicorn's horn, the name of her latest album.
Singer Anna Nalick sports tats on her back with sayings. One says, "there's a blaze of light" and another says, "fear not for the future, weep not for the past." Deep!
Random or maybe not so random? Actress Penelope Cruz has the numbers "883" tattooed on her ankle, but whenever people ask her about it, she gets all weird. She once said in her tattoo's defense, "It is true, but I never say why. No, and it’s not a Harley-Davidson. It’s not the different things that have been said. I don’t think anyone cares. It’s my own tattoo."
Famous for cat paw tattoos on her bosom, Eve has also branded herself on her arm. But believe it or not, the singer has considered removing her tattoos in a discussion with her mother. “My mom said it was the tackiest thing she’d ever seen,” Eve told Inked Magazine. “Yet years later it was my mom who insisted I not remove them. Hey, you don’t mess with your trademark, right?”
Remember when reality TV darling turned fashion designer Lauren Conrad got a J tattoo for her former boyfriend Jason Wahler? Then, she got a "Sticks and Stones" tattoo, which some believe to be a dig at arch enemies Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Emo much?
In July 2011 actress Lea Michele got two new tattoos! It has been said that the new ink were to commemorate her final season on Glee. She even tweeted about it. She got the tats while in the East Village in New York City.
Actress and model Jaime King is no stranger to tattoos, but she has said to the media that she hates having to spend hours covering them up with makeup when she shoots for films. They're souvenirs from her teenage years, after all.
Singer Rihanna has more than 10 tattoos on her hot bod. From words to stars, the funky star can't get enough. One tattoo was supposed to say “rebel flower” in French, but a tattoo boo-boo perhaps, the star inked “rebelle fleur” on her neck instead. The words should be swapped, say French folks.
Actress Alyssa Milano has a tattoo of a rosary on her right shoulder blade, as well as flowers around her ankle—among other tats. We think this star's choices are way sexy. Don't you?
The ever-so-classy Brooke Shields has a couple of tattoos—but they’re so tiny, you might not even notice. The star has one above her ankle and another on her abdomen
Singer Nicki Minaj has a tattoo on her left arm in Chinese lettering that translates into “God is with me always.” Cool, huh?
Zoe Kravitz, daughter of famed singer Lenny Kravitz, has a few tats. On her left arm, for starters, she shows off an artsy eye near her elbow. She has a tattoo commemorating her grandmothers, a heart (her first tattoo) to remind her to love herself, arrows and birds on her back—just to name a few.
Hot actress Zoe Saldana has plenty of ink herself. She has one on her foot, one on her abdomen, another on her back... The one on her back is rumored to be Turikish or Sanskrit. The star's ink on her right foot is in Arabic and means, “I want to ask her.”
How can anyone forget actress Melanie Griffith’s tattoo of husband Antonio Banderas’ name. Some might say the ink is so large, it’s a little tacky, but we think it’s so sweet. Let’s just hope they don’t split up.
