Hilary Duff Thinks You Should Love Your Body for What It Does, Not How It Looks
"Let's be proud of what we've got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed."
Hilary Duff was enjoying vacationing on an island with her son when some tabloids decided to point out her physical "flaws" and body shame her. Duff, who's been candid about embracing her body before, decided to clap back at the comments with an inspiring message for anyone who's ever felt self-conscious while wearing a swimsuit.
"I am posting this on behalf of young girls, women, and mothers of all ages," the singer and actress wrote alongside a photo of herself at the beach with her son. "I'm enjoying a vacation with my son after a long season of shooting and being away from him for weeks at a time over those months. Since websites and magazines love to share 'celeb flaws'-well I have them!" (Related: The Butt Exercise Hilary Duff Swears By)
She continued by noting how grateful she is for her body, not for how it looks but for everything it's allowed her to do. "My body has given me the greatest gift of my life: Luca, five years ago," she said. "I'm turning 30 in September and my body is healthy and gets me where I need to go. Ladies, let's be proud of what we've got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed. You guys (you know who you are!) already know how to ruin a good time, and now you are body shamers as well. #kissmyass"
A huge shout-out to Duff for putting her haters in their place and for reminding us to always #LoveMyShape.
