"I'm letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self-criticism."

Demi Lovato deserves the recognition as one of the most body-pos, curve-loving celebs around (I mean, she even wrote a song called "Confident"-which is on our body-positive playlist). But that doesn't mean she's immune to self-doubt.

In a recent Instagram post, the 25-year-old took a moment to reflect on the past while setting her intentions for the New Year. "So, I'm insecure about my legs in this picture but I'm posting it because I look so happy and this year I've decided I'm letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self-criticism," she wrote alongside a photo of herself wearing an adorable striped swimsuit.

The Grammy nominee has always been vocal about her struggles with bipolar disorder, depression, addiction, and bulimia and how she learned to make health a top priority. (Related: The Genius Self-Confidence Trick Demi Lovato Does In the Shower)

"Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life-changing," she continued. "Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day toward solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes."

She ended her post on a positive note, saying: "Today I'm feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible. Thank you, God, for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF," (Related: Celebrities Who Opened Up About Their Eating Disorders)

Demi's words are a great reminder that there's no such thing as "perfect"-and that striving for perfection can be a fruitless and frustrating journey. Instead, change your perspective to focus on the incredible things (and body) you already have and harness your energy to own it.
