Khloe Kardashian clued us in on the wonders of battle ropes, but now her big sis is reminding you not to overlook the OG fitness cord-the jump rope. In a recent post on her app, Kourtney Kardashian spelled out why she loves to use a jump rope as a workout warm-up, or a "pre-workout" of sorts. (If you're not already a fan of this simple piece of gym equipment-or it elicits bad memories of middle school gym class-this 20-Minute Fat-Blasting Jump Rope Workout should help change your mind.)

Here's what Kourt had to say about getting her workout started with five minutes of using this #basic tool: "Not only is jumping rope a really easy way to get your heart rate going before a workout, it also engages your entire body, using everything from your core to your arms and legs," she said in the article. She goes on to say how incorporating just a few minutes on either end of your workout as a warm-up or even a cool-down can make a big difference in your overall calorie burn. "Also, this is a workout you can do virtually anywhere, inside or outdoors, at home or while traveling," she said. "For this reason, I like to pack a jump rope in my luggage when I'm on vacation, so I'm able to exercise when I'm away from home." But we already know Kourtney and Kendall put in some serious sweat before they even land. See: How Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner Work Out Before Vacation.

Kourtney is definitely on to something. Jumping rope can burn 13 calories per minute, so with a five-minute warm-up, you can expect to burn as much as 65 calories before your workout even begins. Sold! (Want to keep up that burn going through your entire workout? Try these creative jump rope exercises.)
