The Grammy nominee reveals why she's the boss of her body and how she's stronger than ever.
For singer and songwriter Demi Lovato, "Confident" isn't just a hit song; it's a rallying cry. She has built a rock-solid body image by kicking butt with jujitsu, fueling up like a Ferrari, and showing her curves lots of love. The Grammy nominee, who recently partnered with Fabletics, fills us in on why she's the boss of her body.
She proves to us again that she's body-pos goals: "No one has a perfect shape. I don't have a thigh gap and I'm not afraid to show that. As women, we have to stop looking the mirror and judging ourselves." (Here, celeb GIFs perfectly embrace the body-pos vibes.)
The shower trick that makes her feel more confident: "Get naked and show yourself some love. I'm most body confident when I'm standing in the shower, sticking out my stomach. Why? I know I'm healthy, and I feel beautiful."
Her decision to be healthy: "I'm stronger than I've ever been. I made the decision a couple of years ago to work out and eat healthy—not because I wanted to lose weight but to feel good. Now I'm taking care of myself, and it's changed my life."
Why she loves working out: "I kick butt all the time. I love boxing and MMA, especially jujitsu. I get really excited about being able to push myself farther than I ever have before. Those moments teach you to appreciate and be grateful for your body and what it can do."
Her meal plan: "I'm in control of what I eat. I have three meals and two snacks a day, mainly lean protein and vegetables. Someone once said to me, 'You'd never put diesel fuel in a Ferrari.' That really stuck with me. You have to respect yourself and treat your body like it's a Ferrari."
