We talked to the fitness junkie and musician about her new organic and vegan nutrition bar

As an avid runner and fitness junkie, Ellie Goulding's partnerships with Nike and Spotify Running have seemed like a perfect fit for the pop star who has become just as much a workout inspiration as a musical one. Now, she's adding a collab with GoMacro, the makers of organic and vegan nutrition bars, to round out the wellness roster .

The most interesting part? The Wisconsin-based, family-owned makers explain that they never sought out to work with a huge celeb like Goulding. Rather, it all started organically when she posted about her love for GoMacro bars on Instagram over a year ago. (Check out Ellie's Next-Level Instagram Fitspo.)

To announce the partnership, GoMacro has released an Ellie MacroBar, "Everlasting Joy," which is available for purchase online now and hitting shelves this summer. Like the brand's other bars, it pretty much has all the certifications possible: It's USDA Certified Organic, non-GMO Project Verified, 100 percent plant-based, kosher certified, gluten-free certified, vegan certified, and soy-free (and it actually tastes good!). Plus, a portion of the proceeds from the bar will help feed the homeless, a cause close to Goulding's heart.

We caught up with the singer to chat go-to tour workouts, and more.

Shape: How did you first discover the bars and what made a relationship with the brand so appealing to you?

Ellie Goulding (EG): I was first drawn to MacroBars because of their organic, plant-based ingredients. The company shares my values of living a balanced life, promoting sustainability, and giving back to the community, so the partnership just made sense!

Shape: Tell us how you created your own flavor.

EG: Creating my own MacroBar flavor was a fun experience, I have a sweet tooth and am always looking for plant-based snack options that are high in protein. The coconut, almond butter, and chocolate chip flavor we came up with combines three of my favorite ingredients and is packed with energy and protein to get me through the day.

Shape: Besides a GoMacro bar, what else is always in your gym bag?

EG: I always have headphones, green tea in a thermos, my Pantene dry shampoo, and my Nike shorts that are about five years old but so comfy....

Shape: In our December issue, you refer to yourself as an 'aspiring vegan.' What are some of your other go-to pre- and post-workout vegan snacks to refuel? (Psst...See Ellie's Insane Six-Pack on the Cover of Shape!)

EG: Carrots, cucumbers, and hummus!

Shape: Obviously we know from your Instagram that you're always trying new workouts. What's your ideal mix of workouts right now?

EG: I love boxing! In London, I'll take Kobox class sessions and one-on-one sessions with a trainer [and former pro-MMA fighter] Charlie Watts. I also work out with my personal trainer Faisal Abdalla either one-on-one or in Barry's Bootcamp classes. We definitely mix it up! (In fact, Ellie's so obsessed with Barry's, she's even taught a class there!)

Shape: You've had a crazy year with a new album dropping and now a world tour; how do you make sure you stay healthy and sane despite the craziness?

EG: I like to exercise, work hard, drink bubbles, write music, and hang out with my friends.

Shape: #Preach.
