Here's How Much Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson Knows About Health & Fitness
We put her health (and gymnastics!) smarts to the test
At just 16 years old, she brought home four medals from the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, she slayed it on the balance beam to take home event gold and became the fire under countless little girls' Olympic dreams (including some of the insanely talented girls on the 2016 Olympic Gymnastics Team). Yeah, we're talking about gymnastics national treasure Shawn Johnson. Though she had hopes of competing again at the 2012 London Olympics, she retired due to a lingering knee injury and instead tried her luck at love (with NFL player Andrew East) and at Dancing with the Stars (where she was crowned the champ of Season 8 with partner Mark Ballas).
As a gold-medalist, wife of a football player, and DWTS champion, Shawn is no doubt a smartypants when it comes to health and fitness. But we wanted to see how much she really knows. We already know she loves to work out and eats "freakishly" healthy, so it's about time we put her skills to the test. We quizzed her on eating fat and protein, calorie burn, workout myths, and threw some gymnastics trivia in there for good measure too.
