There's something about Jennifer Aniston that makes you feel like she'd most definitely be your BFF if she wasn't you know, Jennifer Aniston. (She's so down-to-earth she shared with us how, "at the premiere of a movie, between the premiere and the after party, the zipper on my dress split in the car. This was after making the comment earlier while getting dressed that evening, Wouldn’t it be horrible if this zip broke?!”) While we hate the word 'effortless'—because we all know that bods like hers don't sculpt themselves, and those perfect highlights don't come courtesy of a box—Jen is pretty much the epitome of relaxed, So-Cal cool.
So it makes sense she chose to bottle that up and sell it to the masses with her latest scent. While Jen has been in the fragrance game for a few years, Chapter One is all about capturing "the effortless tranquility of her California lifestyle"—and is inspired by the beaches of Malibu, the cliffs of Joshua Tree National Park, and the vineyards of Napa Valley.
When we asked Jen how she went about choosing the actual notes, she shared that she was inspired by one flower in particular: "I’ve always been closely involved in the creative process for all of my fragrances, and I love testing out what notes work well together. When I began developing, I knew from the start that there were a few essential aromas I wanted to include. The Grapevine Flower is one of them. It’s really unique and grows throughout California’s vineyards."
She also shares that she's especially drawn to this fragrance because it "feels comfortingly familiar," and that it has a sentimental component for her. "Scents transport me to different times and places." Of course, in this case, that place is California, where Jen was born and has lived for decades.
In addition to swapping in her new fragrance (designed to "impart a sense of inner peace and tranquil well-being"), you can also steal some of Jen's other zen tips. As she previously told us, meditation is a daily part of her morning routine, and using her infrared sauna is a must-have wellness ritual (pal Courtney Cox turned her onto it). "It kind of looks like a little igloo. It's such a game changer in terms of your skin detoxification and cell rejuvenation. I've noticed a real change in my energy, and my sleep, and my skin."
She also uses Sunday as her at-home spa day to give herself weekly mini facials and hair treatments (currently, she's all about the hydrating Olaplex mask). Essential oils are also a de-stressing must-have, especially "lavender for relaxation. I use it in the bath and during my massages." (Next up, check out her whole non-self-care self-care routine.)
Chapter One (also available in a home mist) is available in Kohl's stores this month.
