Amy Schumer Announces the Birth of Her Baby with Adorable (and Hilarious) IG Post
She just so happened to go into labor right around the same time as Meghan Markle.
Amy Schumer knows how to keep it real in literally any situation—even when she's giving birth for the first time. (ICYMI: Amy Schumer Announces She's Pregnant with First Child with Husband Chris Fischer)
On Monday, the 37-year-old actress announced the birth of her baby boy with a super sweet Instagram post. The pic shows her cradling her newborn while her husband, Chris Fischer kisses her cheek. *Swoon.*
Later in the week, Schumer shared another adorable pic of her son on Instagram and revealed his name in the post's caption: Gene Attell Fischer.
Both photos will make your heart melt, but it's Schumer's caption in the first post that makes the announcement totally Amy: "10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born," she wrote.
ICYDK, Schumer happened to give birth almost the same day as Meghan Markle, hence the joke in her Instagram caption.
This isn't the first time Schumer has made a royal pun regarding her preggo overlap with Meghan Markle. In October, Schumer teased the news of her pregnancy by sharing a hilarious photo of her face and her husband's face replacing those of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who announced their pregnancy the week prior.
Jokes aside, Schumer is uniquely good at using social media to update people on both her personal life and on social issues that are close to her heart. Case in point: Over the weekend, she revealed the gender of her baby (a boy), but she did so with an Instagram post that focused mainly on a call for people to boycott Wendy's, which, she wrote, "is the only fast food chain refusing to protect farmworker women from sexual assault and rape in the fields." At the end of the post, Schumer wrote, "Also we are having a boy." (Related: Amy Schumer Just Gave a Hilarious and Thought-Provoking Update On Her Pregnancy)
Kudos to Schumer for not only sharing some of the most intimate moments of her life with the entire world, but for doing so in a way that simultaneously gives a platform to important issues. Congrats to the beautiful couple!
