Beyoncé has not been camera shy of recent. She just debuted her sixth solo album, an epic visual heard and seen 'round the world known as Lemonade, and launched her very own (and very dope) athleisure line, Ivy Park. And now Beyoncé is continuing her dominance in both the health and the beverage (proverbially, at least) worlds by becoming an investor in WTRMLN WTR, a start-up that serves up cold-pressed watermelon juice, according to a report from Fortune.
"I invested in WTRMLN WTR because it's the future of clean, natural hydration; as partners, we share a simple mission to deliver accessible wellness to the world," Beyonce said in a prepared statement. "This is more than an investment in a brand, it's an investment in female leaders, fitness, American farmers, and the health of people and our planet."
We totally agree with Queen Bey—watermelon water's been something we've had our eyes on for a while now. Shape advisory board member Dr. Mike Roussell told us that it's "high in potassium and beta-carotene...and since the [natural water] content of watermelon is so high, there's no additional water added" during the cold-pressed bottling process. "Watermelon rinds are also rich in citrulline, a precursor to the amino acid, arginine, which aids in blood vessel health," Dr. Roussell said.
Lemonade, on the other hand, is pretty sugary and not something we'd recommend sipping on (even if we did love Bey's opus). And remember that time Beyonce went vegan (twice)? Watermelon water happens to fit the vegan bill too. Well played, Bey. We like the way you're thinking.
