Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper has been working his way back to health ever since his shocking heart attack in February. The unfortunate incident was a harsh reminder that heart attacks can happen to anyone-especially when genetics come into play. Despite being the cover boy for good health, the fitness guru wasn't able to escape his predisposition to the cardiovascular problems that run in his family.

In a recent interview with Today, the 52-year-old opened up about his harrowing experience once again, revealing his insanely close encounter with death. "I died on the floor for nine minutes," he told Megyn Kelly. "I was working out at a gym here in New York and it was a Sunday morning and the next thing I knew, I woke in a hospital two days later next to friends and family and was super confused."

He couldn't believe it when doctors told him what had happened. But the incident completely changed his fitness philosophy. He realized how detrimental it can be to ignore warning signs and how important it is to give yourself a break from time to time. "One thing I did not do and would tell everyone in this room to do is listen to your body," he said. "Six weeks before, I had fainted in a gym and was dealing with dizzy spells. And I kept making excuses."

Speaking to the audience, he stressed the importance of not focusing on the numbers on the scale but on your overall health instead. "It's all about what's going on on the inside," he said. "Know your body, because it's not always about how beautiful you look on the outside."

Harper's efforts to regain his health have slowly but surely started to pay off. He's been using social media to document his progress, whether that's just going on a walk with his dog or making major lifestyle changes, like introducing yoga into his workout regimen and switching to a Mediterranean diet.
