The First Picture of Brie Larson As Captain Marvel Is Here and It's Totally Badass
The Oscar-winner's costume is not what people expected.
We've all been dying to see Brie Larson channel her role as Captain Marvel since she announced she'd be playing the lead in the upcoming film. Now, we have a first look of the actress in all her superhero glory, but it's not what people expected. Take a look:
The 28-year-old Oscar winner was recently photographed decked out in her superhero gear while filming in Atlanta. But instead of the iconic red-and-blue costume worn by the OG character in the Marvel comic books, Larson was seen wearing a green suit. Either way, she definitely looked ready to kick some Skrull butt (aka the shape-changing aliens that'll be the film's primary villains).
ICYDK, in the film Larson is set to play Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gains superpowers after an accident causes her DNA to mesh with an alien's. This will be Marvel's first movie highlighting a female character. DC Comics beat them to the punch twice-first when Jennifer Garner played the lead role in Rob Bowman's Elektra and then more recently with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who went viral for filming parts of the movie while five months pregnant.(Related: "Wonder Woman" Gal Gadot Is the New Face of Revlon)
Fans all over the world are beyond excited to see another female superhero get some much-deserved time on the big screen. The movie is set to hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Larson will also appear in a fourth Avengers film the following May.
