Watching Kate Upton Do 225-Pound Hip Lifts Is the Motivation You Need

Kate Upton is a total badass in the gym. The supermodel has been known to flaunt her impressive fitness skills during grueling boot-camp workouts and aerial yoga. One time she pushed her husband up the hill like it was NBD.

This past weekend, the 25-year-old spent Sunday working out with her trainer Ben Bruno. In a proud Instagram post, he shared a video of Upton doing 225-pound weighted hip lifts during a major glute workout.

"Kate Upton (@kateupton) crushes some '1.5 rep' hip thrusts where, like the name suggests, you do one full rep followed by a partial rep, pausing at the top each time. Strong!" he wrote on his own Instagram page. Upton also shared the video using the hashtags #SundayFunday and #225pounds.

Upton, who was also our September cover star, opened up to us about why lifting heavy is the way to go.

"To me, exercise is about working really hard in the gym to be healthy and feel good and confident about my body. Weight training helps me do that the best. Lifting heavy weights leans you out if you do it the correct way," she says.

"Ben Bruno, my trainer, always makes sure I'm getting it right," she continued. "When I started training with him, he would say, 'Let's put 500 pounds on the sled,' and I would immediately say, 'I can't do that.' So he started standing on the sled so I couldn't see how much weight was on there. Now my attitude has changed completely, and I'm always pushing myself to do more."

If you need more convincing, here are eight more reasons why you should lift heavier weights.
