If you follow Kim K on Snapchat (guilty as charged), you know girl has been documenting her weight loss progress and posting photos of her standing on the scale religiously. Mildly obnoxious, yes, but it's clearly kept her majorly accountable. Since giving birth to Saint in December, Kim has been slowly but surely creeping back to her pre-baby weight. In early May, just before the Met Gala, Kim shared the below Snap, clearly stoked on her progress (Kim has previously shared that she gained about 60 pounds during her pregnancy):
And then, about two weeks later, she shared the following snap, showing that finally she reached her pre-baby weight with the caption, "Yaaaassssss!!!! #Atkins"
Kim has kept the weight loss progress going, sharing this week that she has 12 pounds to go to reach "2010 Kim"—before she had either of her children.
Since then, she's continued to post snaps of her progress towards her apparent goal weight of 120 pounds. (Her latest is 131.4, in case anyone wants the ounce-by-ounce update.) Although some have accused the star of setting unrealistic weight loss expectations, she's losing about two pounds per week, which experts say is healthy.
So how has she done it? Well, it's no secret she's been on the Atkins diet (she followed the diet after giving birth to North and is also an ambassador for the brand) meaning she's on a high-protein, low-carb diet plan. She consumes about 1,800 calories per day, which breaks down into about four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat per day, her nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins told Redbook. "I definitely feel good to a place where I feel comfortable again and things are starting to fit," Kim told reporters back in April. "This time I think weight has come off quicker than last time because I kind of learned how to eat better. Last time, I worked out a little bit harder. This time I'm eating differently."
And as her Snapchat followers can attest, she's definitely putting in the hard work when it comes to her fitness routine, getting up early to do sprinting drills with her trainer and even going for runs with Kanye.
While we can't say we're thrilled about making Snapchatting your weight the new social media trend, it's clearly keeping her motivated to make healthy choices and reach her goals. Plus, it beats seeing another duck face selfie taken with a LuMee iPhone case.
