The Important Reason Lena Dunham Has No Interest In Becoming a Weight-Loss Cover Girl
Losing weight isn't always about getting healthy.
Lena Dunham has no interest in becoming the poster child for weight loss-and she made that very clear by calling out Us Weekly for featuring a picture of her alongside the headline: "20 Slimdown Diet Tips Stars Are Using."
As a response, Dunham decided to create her own list on Instagram, explaining exactly what has caused her to lose weight over the past year, starting with "anxiety disorder" and "resultant constant nausea."
The Girls creator continued her list by including points like "abdominal adhesions pinning ovary below uterus" and "a quiet rage that replaces need for food with need for revenge"-making it apparent that her weight loss is a direct result of medical conditions and the nation's unsettling political atmosphere. "I have no tips I give no tips I don't want to be on this cover cuz it's diametrically opposed to everything I've fought my whole career for and it's not a compliment to me because it's not an achievement."
While Dunham's body has been a topic of discussion lately, she continues to focus on promoting self-love and self-acceptance rather than weight loss.
"I feel I've made it pretty clear over the years that I don't give even the tiniest of shits what anyone else feels about my body," she previously wrote on Instagram. "My weight loss isn't a triumph and it also isn't some sign I've finally given in to the voices of trolls. Because my body belongs to ME―at every phase, in every iteration, and whatever I'm doing with it."
