Case in point: The singer recently took to Instagram and TikTok to share a video set to a brief snippet from a forthcoming song. True to signature Lizzo form, it seems like the song will include lyrics and messaging about unbridled, unconditional love. ("If you love me, you love all of me… or none of me at all," Lizzo sings in the clip.) In the video, the singer is fully nude, sitting on the floor and offering herself a gentle touch on the shoulder. "If you love me… you love all of me," she captioned the clip, which racked up more than 2.5 million views and counting within hours. "You don't get to pick and choose. We should be unconditionally loving of one another, starting with being unconditionally loving to ourselves. Take a moment today and think about the conditions we hold so tightly to that keep us from the freedom of true love. Do you really wanna be so tightly wound? Free yourself in love. You deserve it." She also shared a full-body photo on Instagram from the same shoot, captioning the post, "Art." Naturally, fans were all about the vibes of the back-to-back posts. "I kno you'll never see this but I just want to say thank you so much for your transparency in every aspect of yourself and always being true to yourself," one fan wrote in the comments of the video. "But thank you for all the body positive vibes you give to everyone and this one right here hits so personal for me and to see another woman like myself celebrate herself and her beauty openly gives me so much happiness and hope for myself to oneday be there, still learning but I know I'll get there so thank you girl ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️." ( Lizzo Is Here to Remind You That Bodies Change — And That's Totally Okay Of course, it's true that practicing self-compassion is just that — a practice, a sentiment that the commenter nodded to by sharing that they're "still learning." And it can be easy to feel like you're failing at it, especially when you see what looks like everyone else getting it right by way of inspirational Instagram captions and perfectly curated online posts. Still, channeling self-love with simple methods such as practicing gratitude or repeating affirmations (one of Lizzo's go to's), can go a long way. The effort is worth it. "One of our most basic needs as humans is love," as Chris Germer, Ph.D., a founder of the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion and a lecturer at Harvard Medical School previously told Shape. "We often look to others for that, but we should give that to ourselves in an acknowledgment that we're as important as any other person." And while it might feel easier to seek out likes and encouragement from those around you, working on finding validation internally can come with oodles of benefits big and small. Studies have found that the ripple effects of self-compassion include better sleep, more balanced lifestyle habits, reduced stress, improved pain management, and a boost in self-image and mood. When all else fails, look no further than Lizzo's Instagram, where you're sure to find endless inspiration rooted in kindness and unabashed self-love, whether she's celebrating her body's changes, sharing the powerful affirmations she relies on when she's not feeling it, or reminding fans to revel in their unique beauty. And, of course, it seems her forthcoming song is all about that good stuff, so here's to hoping Lizzo shares the rest of the track sometime soon. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
