News and Trends Celebrity News Selena Gomez Underwent a Total Transformation for the SAG Awards From her peachy, nude makeup to slicked-back bun, here’s exactly what the star used to go from bedhead to full-on glam. By Genesis Rivas Published on February 28, 2022 Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Getty Images Nearly a day after last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards and it seems that many are still talking about how Selena Gomez presented an award while barefoot. And while, yes, her shoeless presentation was unconventional, her entire ensemble (including hair and makeup!) for the momentous event is equally buzzworthy, trust. Beyond the black velvet Oscar de la Renta gown and Christian Louboutin stilettos (which broke while walking the carpet, thus the whole taking-the-stage-sans-shoes), Gomez donned a neutral makeup look with peachy tones. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek bun and tied with a bow, solidifying the idea that she was a veritable present for viewers everywhere. But the real gift from the evening is the transformation video Gomez's makeup artist Hung Vanngo posted on Instagram. In the clip, the Only Murders in the Building star undergoes a seemingly magical makeover to the tune of her 2019 hit single, "Look At Her Now." After showing off her "before" look — a makeup-less face and head full of frizzy, natural hair — the camera zooms into her cozy, pink sweater and then quickly pans out to feature a glammed-up Gomez. The actress's transformation is mesmerizing, and you're left wanting all of the details to copy her glam yourself. And good news: Gomez's glam team's got you covered. Being that she's the founder of Rare Beauty, it's not all that shocking to learn that Vanngo used cosmetics from his client's own brand, as evidenced by a post on the company's Instagram. First up: the Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation (Buy it, $29, sephora.com), which is a lightweight foundation that offers buildable coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. It's also formulated with botanicals such as lotus, gardenia, and water lily to soothe and nourish the skin. Vanngo also used the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight in Mesmerize (Buy it, $22, sephora.com) to achieve Gomez's soft and luminous highlight. From there, Vanngo called upon a collection of other Rare Beauty products, such as the Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer (Buy it, $19, sephora.com),the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush (Buy it, $20, sephora.com), the Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer (Buy it, $23, sephora.com), and the Always an Optimist Soft Radiance Setting Powder (Buy it, $22, sephora.com) all of which helped give Gomez's that ethereal glow. And need not forget about her peachy-neutral lip, feathered eyebrows — which were done using the Brow Harmony Pencil & Gel Duo (Buy it, $22, sephora.com) — and wispy lashes coated in the Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara (Buy it, $20, sephora.com). Marissa Marino. After blow-drying her client's hair straight, Marino used the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Finisher Brush(Buy It, $18, amazon.com) "to pull the hair into a smooth, bump-free bun," says Marison in a press release. "It so effortlessly separates hair that may be clumped together to create a flawless bun." ( The Olaplex Bun Is TikTok's Favorite Multitasking Hairstyle Gomez paired her hair and makeup with a metallic emerald green manicure created by celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, who (oh-so-generously!) shared specifics as to Gomez's polished nails on Instagram. After taking care of her cuticles, Bachik layered on Elfeba-esque lacquer from Gel Bottle Inc. in the shade Ivy (Buy it, $19, thegelbottle.us) and then slathered on Hermes Nourishing Cuticle Oil (But It $48, saksfifthavenue.com) for added hydration and shine.
