Pregnant Natalie Portman Wins the 2011 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress
Natalie Portman won the Golden Globe Award for best actress Sunday night (January 16) for her role as a professional ballerina in Black Swan. When the starlet took the stage, she thanked her soon-to-be husband Benjamin Millepied-whom she met on the set of Black Swan-for not only his top-notch ballet and choreography skills, but for helping her "continue this creation of creating more life." And with that, the pregnant Natalie Portman acknowledged the one thing stealing the spotlight from her unforgettable performance-her budding baby bump. The 29-year-old actress wore a pale pink Viktor and Rolf gown adorned with a hand-embroidered Swarovski crystal red rose that perfectly draped her pregnant body-a frame very different from her character's thin, ballerina body.
To prepare for her role in Black Swan, Natalie Portman took on an intense training program under the guidance of former New York City Ballet dancer Mary Helen Bowers. We got Bowers to dish on how she prepped Portman for center stage and to reveal five moves from her Ballet Beautiful workout to help anyone get "strong and fit, but not bulky."
