Pop sensation and Justin Bieber girlfriend Selena Gomez performed live on Good Morning America this morning and confessed that something in her life needed a little more attention and care - her diet. She told the live GMA crowd that she needed to take better care of herself by resting more and eating better because her iron levels were too low. Just last weekend, Gomez was hospitalized for food poisoning and exhaustion.

This 18-year-old has been pretty vocal about her love of junk food in the past, but now says that her mom is making sure that she eats a little better and takes vitamins. Here are three other healthy eating tips for Gomez's diet!

3 Healthy Eating Tips for Selena Gomez's Diet

1. Focus on the fruits and veggies first. We recommend that Gomez start each meal with a fruit or vegetable. Whether it's as simple as an apple before lunch or a side salad before dinner, filling up on fruits and veggies first is a way to decrease your cravings for junk food and is much better for you!

2. Follow the 80-20 rule. Yes, you can still have a healthy diet and eat junk food! You just can't have junk food be the only food you eat. If Gomez followed the 80-20 rule where 80 percent of the foods you eat are unprocessed and whole and 20 percent are the more fun, splurge foods, we guarantee she'd be on her way to being healthier!

3. Eat regular meals with protein. Because Gomez says her iron levels were low, we recommend that she have a little protein with each meal. Whether it's an egg, some turkey or some lentils and soybeans, these healthy foods are naturally high in iron and help keep you feeling full and energized.

When I was overweight, I used to believe that my female friends were so nice and supportive, but when I achieved the body of my dreams, some of them turned nasty. Misery loves company, I guess. They probably didn't want me to become better than them. But, you know what? It was worth it! Read my story here ...==>
