Shape's editorial guidelines Published on November 14, 2012 Share Tweet Pin Email After two weeks of anticipation, we finally found out who is going to the Dancing With the Stars semi-finals after last night's double elimination. The first celebrity to learn she would not be continuing in the competition was fan favorite Kirstie Alley. Consistently at the back of the pack, Alley's fans have saved her week after week, but the 12.5-point gap between the actress and Apolo Anton Ohno, in the penultimate spot, was too much for viewers to overcome. And while I personally felt she was not performing at the level of the other dancers, twitter followers like @Carhops weren't shy to tell us, "@Shape_Magazine We do not agree, we love Kirstie!!" With Alley out of the way, the final elimination of the evening came down to low-scoring Ohno, despite a 29 and 29.5 the previous night, and Gilles Marini who has been slowly sliding down from the top of the leader board all season long. Marini also took home a 29 and 29.5 on Monday night. While I didn't want to see either performer go home, my jaw dropped when the DWTS hosts revealed Marnini had been eliminated. Taking straight to Twitter, I revealed my shock (without revealing any names for our DVRing friends) tweeting, "WHAT!?!?!?!?! Will not reveal who just got eliminated on @DancingABC but so disappointed. #DWTS." Following that message, we received immediate and almost unanimous responses. Here's what SHAPE's twitter followers had to say about the Dancing With the Stars shocking second elimination, good and bad: @HotelFoxtrot: @Shape_Magazine I yelled at my tv @Shygirl76: @Shape_Magazine so agree with you @HotelFoxtrot: @Shape_Magazine @Shygirl76 I'm in shock, and way more upset than any adult ever should be about a tv show @RNCCRN9706: @Shape_Magazine I'm not! He was due to go! @JoanneBarnes5: @Shape_Magazine I loved him!! He brought the sexy to the show!! @Mickeylangley: @Shape_Magazine should have been eliminated long ago. Just sayin. Next week, the remaining contestants will perform a new style of dance selected by one of their competitors. The line up is as follows: Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani: "cave man" hustle Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff: "big top" jazz Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough: "knight rider" bhangra Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy: "surfer" flamenco Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke: "espionage" lindy hop What do you think of last night's elimination?
